Greetings, 9 Elephants tribe. How are you all doing? From what my friends and clients have been telling me, this past week has been a very busy and intense one for everyone. I can say that this holds true for me, too. I don't know if next week is going to be any less busy, but the energy should calm down a bit. This coming week, we'll be working with the
Seven of Cups.
The
Seven of Cups is called the Dreams or Dreaming card and it carries with it two flavors: one of daydreaming and the other, creative visualization. You all have dreams. Without them, Life would be rather bland. Some of your dreams involve a wonderful career. Others dream of love. Some of you dream of having the freedom to live outside the norms society places on us, eschewing the standard picket-fence dream and seeing yourself
mountain climbing or
meditating in a far-away temple.
Sometimes people just daydream about what they want, which is fine. However, if you really want to bring a daydream into reality, you should try
creative visualization. The
Seven of Cups asks you to take the next seven days and find some quiet time to think about your dreams. then determine what action you need to take to change these mind movies of wishes into a tangible reality.
When you practice creative visualization, the first thing you must do is determine what it is you want to create or attract into your Life. Do you want to find a job more suited to your skill set? Attract the right romantic partner? Bring in an extra $10,000? Is there a part of the world that you've always wanted to visit? Decide what to focus on and after you are clear about this, then it's time to start visualizing.
Tip: When you first begin the creative visualization process, concentrate on attracting something into your life that is feasible. For example, it's easier to attract $10,000 into your world versus $10,000,000. However, after you become adept at creative visualization, there's nothing stopping you from creating on a larger scale.
After you are focused, the next step is to see yourself participating in your dream. If you want to attract a new job, envision what your perfect job would be and then see yourself working that job. Have conversations with your new boss and co-workers (you don't have to know these people-just see yourself talking to people who are glad to be working with you). Envision yourself smiling at your new job, really enjoying it.
If you have any kind of drawing talent, you can sketch what you want to bring into reality. For those who are missing the artistic gene, watch videos that relate to what you're trying to attract, or look at pictures that pertain to your dream. A simple task would be to write down what you're trying to attract. If you're trying to find a new job, write: "I now have a great job, doing [describe job function], making at least [indicate salary] or more. I work with intelligent, kind people, who are supportive, enabling me to do great work. Because of my co-workers' support, I am inspired to help them in return. My commute is [indicate time] or less. I love my new job."
After you have a very clear picture of what you're creating, mentally refer to this picture many times throughout each day. If you've drawn a picture or written an affirmation of what you want, refer to this. Look at the videos or pictures you've found that relate to your dream. When you do this, you're sending out energy that the Universe can pick up on and work with you to manifest your dreams.
After determining what you want and visually picturing it, what you then need to do is truly, truly, truly believe that your dream can come true. Here's a personal example of creative visualization that I undertook. A little over a year ago, I decided that I not only wanted to start blogging, but I wanted to finish my book and get it published. I didn't have clue one how to achieve either of these dreams, but I knew I could do it. So, I took a first step - I started reading every Internet article I could find that described the blogging process. I bookmarked blogging sites, I watched tutorials, I researched software, and in the process, I stumbled across a video featuring the incredible
Maria Gamb. Maria is not a blogger (although, she does do some blogging). Maria is a coach who helps people build dream businesses. While Maria's video had nothing whatsoever to do with blogging, I was so impressed with her, that I left a message on her web site.
The next day, Maria called me. As we chatted, Maria asked me what my biggest dream was, and at the time, it was to become a blogger and write my book. However, when I answered Maria, I only mentioned the book. Maria then referred me to her editor,
Stephanie Gunning and I began working with Stephanie to get my manuscript into publishable form. While working with Stephanie, I told her that I'd like to start blogging and she referred me to Shaila Abdullah, who is both an incredible
author and
web designer. Shaila created this wonderful web site for me and I've been blogging for five months. Thanks to Stephanie, my manuscript is completed and I'm now looking for a great literary agent. My current creative visualization process involves my finding this agent!
Creative visualization works - not always overnight, but it is a great tool that you can use to create a Life that resonates from your heart. As an aside, once I jokingly - and I do mean jokingly - made an affirmation that I wanted a little extra money in my life. I knew that I was receiving two referral checks for having helped recruiters place other technical writers on contracts. So, when I jokingly said that I wanted a little extra money, I figured I couldn't lose because I already knew that I had x number of dollars coming to me. But I didn't really expect anything more to happen. Imagine my shock when both of these referral checks were double the amount I was told to expect.
So, this week, heed the advice of the
Seven of Cups and begin a creative visualization process. If you need to take a little time to just daydream, that's okay, too. Daydreaming is a great stress reliever, which is something we can all use these days. So daydream a little, but don't get lost in dreaming. Make sure you also take action and begin the process of turning a dream into reality.
To get you in the mood, here's Blondie on
dreaming. Enjoy and have a great week.
Namaste!
NAMASTE BACK TO YOU,
Mari Lynn
