As
mentioned in the overview of the Tarot, the Major Arcana
cards provide a story of how man evolves from an innocent,
trusting being to one who has mastery over his/her life
and understands the path of this life. This section tells
the story of man’s journey, as told through the Major
Arcana cards.
Let
the journey begin… |

- The Fool |
Your
journey begins. This card shows a young man on the verge
of stepping off of a cliff. This act shows that the man
is either naïve or full of faith. Because he is looking
towards the sky, most conclude that he is stepping out
on faith. His dog warns him of danger, but he proceeds.
The
Divine Child is the Jungian archetype that is associated
with this card. This shows us how a child can lead the
way through their innocence and trust.

- The Magician |
|
You
have moved forward in your journey and have gained skills
along the way. You are no longer a Fool, but now a Magician.
You have all that you need within you to manifest your
desires.
The
archetype associated with the Magician is that of an alchemist
or the Trickster. The Magician can use his tools for light
or dark.

- The High Priestess |
While
you have discovered your own hidden talents by becoming
the Magician, you only find your inner spirit when you
become the High Priestess. You now add an intuitive streak
to your being – you are working with you “gut”
feelings, your sixth sense.
There
is no particular archetype associated with this card,
but this card always represents dealings with the Spirit
and intuitive world.

| 3
- The Empress |
|
You
now add to your intuitive and magical skills by learning
how to nurture. You can give birth to a child, a thought,
a passion, a project. Whatever requires encouragement
and nurturing. You are there.
The
archetype associated with the Empress is the Empress-Mother-Womb.
You now work as if you are the Great Mother Earth. Another
archetype is the anima, which is the feminine aspect of
personality.

- The Emperor |
Just
as you became the Great Mother Earth, now you are the
Great Father, which is represented by the Emperor. The
Emperor complements the Empress. The yin and yang within
you is now balanced. The Emperor brings dominion, order,
reason, control, and power to a situation.
The Emperor is associated with the archetype of animus,
the male aspect of personality.

- The Hierophant |
|
|
The
Hierophant is also known as the "Pope" card.
This card represents tradition, authority, conservatism,
and piousness. Bringing the Hierophant into your life
represents your place in society. Do you fit into the
mainstream or outside of it? The Hierophant also starts
you on your search for inner spirituality.
The archetype associated with the Hierophant is that of
one wearing a mask. Are we free to be ourselves within
society or must we mask our true selves.

|

- The Lovers |
|
Now
that you've found your place in society, how do you find
yourself within relationships? These relationships include
those of friendship and romance, and even business relationships
can be nurtured through the skills that you obtain through
the Lovers.
No specific archetype is associated with this card.

- The Chariot |
|
| |
The
Chariot brings to you the aspect of balance. With this
energy, you learn how to balance the dark and the light
in life. You can choose to go down either path, but with
knowledge you should choose the path of light. However,
while choosing light, we must still remain aware of the
shadow self. For without the dark, we cannot truly understand
the light.
The archetype associated with the Chariot is the shadow
self.
